15+ YEARS INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE
Bedbugs / Bed bugs are small blood-sucking insects, the adults are about the same size as an apple pip. Young bed bugs, or Nymphs, look exactly the same as the adults, but smaller, each needing a blood meal to advance to its next stage.
Between egg and Adult there are 5 stages.
Hiding in cracks and crevices, bedbugs are often distributed accidentally by the buying and selling of second-hand furniture or on luggage from visits to hotels that unknowingly have bed bug problems. Student accomodation can also be a problem area for bedbug infestations, with the student often transporting them back to parents houses at the end of the school year.
According to research Bed bugs do not carry disease here in the UK but their bites can cause severe allergic reactions.
Generally found in mattresses, bed frames or bedroom furniture, bed bugs crawl out at night and feed on the blood of their host.
